Where or where is Lake Bluff Dental Care????

You might be strolling down the main Scranton Boulevard for a Lake Bluff Brewery Block Party, Prarie Pub's Live concerts in the Gazebo or the Scranton Alley, during any of the many Parades down Scranton Avenue, possibly while strolling around and looking at the Vintage and Antique cars at the annual Museum Car Show, or any other number of events that happen right in front of our office!!

Our office has been a dental office for over 60 years, but in 2023, Dr. Linda Salmon's took over after the dentist retired and made sure with her special touches and signage that you would notice the office. We have many locals popping their head in and saying " I never knew this was a dental office, how convenient, can I make an appointment?"

Dr. Salmon has been a dentist for almost 30 years and she has been in dentistry industry since 1985. She started in high school and found her passion was dentistry and never looked back. Dr. Salmon has an amazing background of working in dentistry. She worked at University of Illinois in the Oral Surgery Dept., she has done volunteer work in the Dominican Republic doing surgical Implants and Extractions, she has worked in many offices early in her career with different dentists and specialists. She has seen almost everything possible in dentistry. She is amazing at diagnosing any dental problems or issues you may have or even directing you to a specialist who can help you.  She works very closely with many specialists in the area who have a high regard for Dr. Salmon's dental history and wealth of knowledge.

Lake Bluff Dental Care needed a woman dentist to give it that special warmth it was lacking.

She stays at the top of dentistry by attending or watching by Zoom many hours of dental continuing education every month.  She makes sure that the office is on the cutting edge of dentistry to give her patients the very latest and the best care in dentistry.

Dr. Salmon and her wonderful staff have terrific chairside manner. The staff will help you relax. They can put on any music that you would like to hear while you are in for a dental procedure. Give you a blanket, headphones, ear plugs, anything to make you more comfortable. Just ask.

Dr. Salmon likes to make sure all her patients feel like family and friends.

We have made the office cheery and happy. Please stop in to say hello and see all our changes.

We hope to see you soon and that you will join our dental family-if you haven't already. Call 847-234-0557

Dr. Linda R Salmon, DDS

Dentist/Owner

Dr. Linda R. Salmon, DDS

Dr. Salmon grew up on the Northwest Side of Chicago. She began her undergraduate studies at Loyola University, but then finished her last few classes at University of Illinois in Chicago and received her Bachelor of Science in Dentistry from University of Illinois.  She then continued her studies at University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1996.

Immediately after graduating, she worked in the Oral Surgery Department at UIC College of Dentistry to focus on oral surgery techniques.  She then moved onto a dental office in Aurora, primarily seeing patients on public aid and children from the Mooseheart residential childcare facility.

Dr. Salmon left Aurora to purchase a partnership in a prestigious dental office in Oak Park, IL.   She purchased a well known dentist and Frank Lloyd Wright advocate Dr. Gabriel Freese’s dental practice. Dr. Freese owned a Frank Lloyd Wright home and was very active in the community. In the 90s, there were not a lot of women dentists and this was an amazing opportunity for Dr. Salmon to step into another woman dentist's practice and to be a part of such a wonderful community like Oak Park.  Dr. Salmon was a part of the Rotary Club, the local Soup Kitchen and active in many events for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

In 2002, she sold her Oak Park practice to move her home from Lincoln Park, Chicago to the north suburbs. She now had 2 children and wanted to make sure they would be in a good school district.

The commute to Oak Park was too long and she sold her Oak Park office and moved her dental practice to the northwest side of Chicago in the Sauganash area. Dr. Salmon grew up very close to this area and felt like it was meant to be. She bought into the partnership of the office. She became very active in the community mentoring students from her alma mater Resurrection High School and other schools by giving dental demonstrations at local grade schools including her childhood school James B. Farnsworth.

She was also very active donating to the Chicago Police and Fireman departments and attending Chicago fundraiser events to support local causes.

Since Dr. Salmon was living on the North Shore and her children were attending New Trier High School, she also became active in the north suburban communities. She has supported The Cradle of Evanston, The Citadel of Lake Forest, Selah Freedom for survivors of human trafficking, Wings-survivors of domestic violence, Project H.O.O.D-help end violence, recidivism, and helps rebuild the communities that are broken.

After the COVID pandemic, Dr. Salmon decided it was in their best interest to sell her practice and move her practice to the northern suburbs where she was finding herself spending more and more of her time at community events and fundraisers.

Dr. Salmon has had such a strong affiliation with the different organizations in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff area, it only seemed natural to seek an office in the area. She continues to support the Lake Forest Citadel, The Smith family who always hosts Citadel functions at their many estates, Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Encore of Lake Forest, International Club of Lake Forest and so many others. She is still supporting Project H.O.O.D and some other charities from Chicago. But, Lake Bluff is where she is trying to focus her attention.  She is presently showcasing local Artist Sharon Eckland's renowned "Guardian Angels" art and some of her new muses in her office. Stop in to see what's new in the waiting room!!!

You will more than likely see Dr. Salmon in the area. She could be paddle boarding at Lake Forest or Lake Bluff beaches, taking yoga around the corner from her dental office, getting an espresso ristretto at Prairie Pub, eating her favorite Sunny Salad at Bluffingtons, getting her nails done 2 doors from her office, at the post office 2 doors down the other way, getting a lavender sage tea at Hansas, checking out local goods on Fridays Farmer's Market, having some delicious Fois sliders at Innovasi across the street, chilling with friends at one of the Lake Bluff's Block Parties, Concerts or checking out cars at the annual Auto Museum. You are bound to see her in the area.

Dr. Salmon is married for over 25 years and living in Wilmette/Glenview area-but looking to move to the LB/LF area. She has 2 daughters, both are in Dental School at her Alumnus University of Illinois College of Dentistry. She stays very active in traveling-especially Italy since she has a dual citizenship there. She loves working out with boxing, running and other types of sports.

Dr. Salmon maintains numerous professional affiliations which include the: American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, United States Institute for Orthodontics, Doctor for Conscious Sedation and Nitrous, American Academy of Women Dentists, The Arcolian Italian Dental Society, International Implant Association for Dental Surgeons, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Aesthetic Medical Educators Training program for Botox for TMD and esthetics, The Academy of Laser Surgery, Delta Sigma Delta Dental fraternity-which supports dental students and many more. She is also on the University of Illinois Dental School Alumni Board since 2020.

She is certified in Orthodontics with the United States Dental Institute and also with Invisalign. She is certified from the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum in California for Esthetic dentistry. She is certified to place surgical implants and has spent time in the Dominican Republic doing hundreds of implants on locals as a volunteer.

Dr. Salmon has a vast knowledge of all areas pertaining to Dentistry. She has prided herself on being able to help any dental condition. If you Dr. Salmon takes care of you, then you know you are getting one of the best in the business.

We look forward to seeing you soon. Give the office a call to get in for your cleaning and checkup appointments. 847-234-0557

Dr. Randal A Knudson, DDS

Dentist

Dr. Randall Knudson has retired since August 2023

Dr. Knudson had been planning to retire since the beginning of 2023.  I was meant to be that Dr. Salmon sold her practice in 2022 and then

left her practice in early 2023 in search of her new office.

Nancy, Dr. Knudson's right hand and girlfriend for over 20 years retired with him.

They have decided to retire and spend time with their rescue dogs and Dr. Knudson's children and their families. Dr. Knudson's children (four) all live in different states.

It takes up all his time just planning and visiting each of them all year. He is happy to now have the time to enjoy his visits and to travel.

Please send retirement and farewell cards to the office and we will make sure he gets them.

We wish them all the best!!

Dr. James MacNaughton retired February 2023.

Dr. James MacNaughton has retired since early 2023.

He is now working at Marquette University as a Dental Professor at the Dental school.

All of his patients were being temporarily seeing Dr. Knudson.

Now that Dr. Knudson has retired in August of 2023 Dr. Salmon has been taking great care of Dr. MacNaughtons patients.

For a short time Grace, who was Dr. MacNaughton's receptionist, came back to Lake Bluff Dental Care to help Dr. Salmon with all of the new systems

that she had put into place. New X-ray machines, new intra-oral cameras, new software, etc.

Grace said she would just come back to help until we were able to find the right shoes to take her place. Grace retired in March 2024.

If you wanted to contact Dr. MacNaughton let Dr. Salmon know and she can put in touch with him or if you send a retirement card, she will make sure it gets to him.

Congrats Dr. MacNaughton on your next phase in Dentistry.
